I have discovered something more important to me than happiness: self-respect. Even on a bad day, a day when I am far from being my own biggest fan, my integrity can remain intact. That is the ultimate measure of myself, at the end of a day, and ultimately at the end of my life. It's not about what happens to me; it is always about how I respond.
Would someone please explain to Donald Trump that all the attention he is getting is not because he is so widely admired & awed. We are not responding to his imagined feats of strength. We are not humbled in the ripple effect of all his “winning.” We are paying attention in the same way we would if a 4-year old was holding a loaded gun. Wait, is a 4-year-old still considered a toddler? Never mind. Toddler works anyway because we are dealing with a developmentally delayed 4-year-old. No offense to 4-year-olds intended.
[Scene] Donny… Donny …easy little fella. Yes, that is a very nice gun. What? Yes. It IS very shiny. And yes, I know that it is heavy. Now listen - very carefully. We want you to just put the gun down on the floor, very gently, easy peasy. Come on, you can do it. What? No, little guy, you can do this. How about if we get the biggest crowd to ever witness a brave boy putting a gun on the floor to watch you do this? What do you think? Wouldn’t that be great? [to be continued…]
