I have discovered something more important to me than happiness: self-respect. Even on a bad day, a day when I am far from being my own biggest fan, my integrity can remain intact. That is the ultimate measure of myself, at the end of a day, and ultimately at the end of my life. It's not about what happens to me; it is always about how I respond.
Am I the only one who remembers Megyn Kelly from her time at FOX News? If anyone needs to review, thank goodness there is the reliable youtube. She shows herself to be very bit the racist that Donald Trump has shown himself to be, not to mention demonstrations of pure ignorance: “Jesus was also a white man,” she proclaimed immediately after making it clear that Santa Claus is white. Not making this up. She later tried to pass it off as humor but watch the clip. She was serious.
If you prefer to let her FOX days be bygones, let’s revisit two of her first interviews for her Sunday night NBC show: Vladimir Putin and Alex Jones. After promoting these as hard-hitting journalism, we witnessed interviews with soft-ball questions and no hint of follow up that might make either man the slightest bit uncomfortable. But forget that even. Additional tape of unaired footage of both interviews revealed Ms. Kelly playing to each of her interview subject’s egos with compliments and even some promises to help Mr. Jones come off looking good in the interview.
And now I see that NBC is giving Megyn Kelly a morning show to follow The Today Show. I understand that this is all about what will sell advertising so whether I like it or not, I guess that is Megyn Kelly. But could we at the very least not promote her as a journalist. She is at best tabloid television in the vein of Maury Povich and Phil McGraw. No offense intended to Mr. Povich.
